The Spring ISD Education Foundation is opening up another round of scholarship applications for graduating seniors who are considering enrolling in a college or accredited technical school.
“We are looking to give away up to $45,000 to qualified students who have an excellent academic track record in school and who have clear goals for their future,” said Spring ISD Education Foundation President Ken Grays. “We are grateful to all of our supporters who have made these additional scholarships possible.”
The application period for the first round of scholarships closed in March so this bonus round will give seniors who missed that window another opportunity to apply. But Grays cautioned students to keep in mind the latest deadline to submit completed applications to their school counselor: Tuesday, May 1 by 3 p.m.
Each year, the Foundation distributes thousands of dollars in scholarships to accomplished students. The goal is to help offset the cost of higher education with scholarships that range in amounts from $500 to $2,000.
“We hope these scholarships can help students and their families fill in the gaps, by covering some of the cost of tuition or books,” Grays said. “I certainly hope we’ll see a lot of seniors applying for this latest round of funding. We try to keep the application pretty simple so there’s no reason for students not to apply.”
Winners of the scholarships will be notified in May. Students with any questions should reach out to their school counselor.
